A few days ago, Carsen and Ben met me at my home in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver for their engagement session. We started in my newly landscaped front yard and then walked around the neighborhood stopping at various locations, including alleys, for photos. Their wonderful German Shepard, Cooper, joined us as well. Carsen and Ben make such a great couple and I am so excited for their wedding this September. Their ceremony will be in the Gardens at Washington Park and the reception at the Boathouse in the Park. Here are a few highlights from their engagement session. Enjoy!

Sascha and Reed decided to have a destination wedding on a beautiful island in Mexico…Isla Mujeres…and I am so excited they did!!! They choose Zama Beach Club for their wedding….a wonderful, very private beach club with palapa structures along a beautiful stretch of white sand beach. Before their celebration, we took an island tour…traveling around the island for photos which was a blast! It was a fabulous day and one I was so excited to capture for them! Here’s a few images from their wedding day on Isla Mujeres!

Special thanks and recognition goes out to Juliette Franz of Papillon Weddings who did a fabulous job coordinating their wedding. I would also like to recognize Anne Marie of Make Me Beautiful Bride who did the hair and makeup for Sascha and the girls. Lastly, I would like to thank Vanessa Jaimes of Floral Design who provide the incredible flower arrangements for their special day.

Noelle and Aaron….two incredible and fun people! Individually, they are totally fun and unique. Together, they are perfect! Perfect for each other in every way!!! I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph their destination wedding in Mexico. Noelle and Aaron were married on Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of Cancun. If you’ve visited my blog before, you know that this is my favorite destination….my home away from home. They were married at Zama Beach Club, a wonderful venue for a wedding with it’s private beach area and palapa open-air rooms. Before Noelle and Aaron tied the knot, we spent some time on an “Island Tour” taking photographs around the island at my favorite locations…including in Centro, where the colorful buildings are plentiful. Noelle and Aaron had a “First Look” at Puerta al Mar condos. Their day was wonderful and I am so happy to have met them, their family and friends!!!

Special recognition goes out to Sabina Tamm of Sundreamers who was their wedding coordinator and assistant with officiating the wedding. As always, it was a pleasure working with Sabina!!!!

Isla Mujeres Sunset Cruise - Isla Mujeres Sailing - Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing - Induna Charters

The other day, I went on a sunset cruise with Induna Charters on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. What an incredible trip it was! Induna is a state of the art 68 foot catamaran.  The sunset cruise was three hours long which was a perfect amount of time. Complementary with your sail they provide cold beer, wine and amazing appetizers including sandwiches, guacamole and ceviche. Not only was the sunset incredible, but we saw dolphins on our trip! Induna Charters not only offers sunset cruises from Isla Mujeres, but you can hire them for private sailing adventures for groups of 2 to 110 people as well. If you plan on visiting Isla Mujeres, you have to go sailing with Induna Charters. It will be the highlight of your stay on the island! If you want to book a trip, you can reach Induna through their website at www.indunacharters.com, by email at indunacharters@yahoo.com or through their local phone 998-577-8877. Enjoy!

Just a few weeks earlier, I was at Sensatori Azul with Paula, Jeff and their fabulous friends and family for their amazing destination wedding and a fun Trash the Dress session the day after the big event. Sensatori Azul is a fabulous venue for a wedding. It’s located between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen along the Mayan Riveria of Mexico. For their Trash the Dress session, we walked around the grounds of the resort and then headed to the beach, finishing in the water of course! Here’s a few images from our session. Enjoy!

A few weeks back, I was on the plane again headed back to Mexico to my favorite place, Isla Mujeres, to photograph Mandy and Cam’s destination wedding. Mandy and Cam are such a great couple and they BOTH have heart’s the size of Texas! They choose Zama Beach Club for their wedding. Located on the Sac Bajopeninsula of Isla Mujeres, Zama is the prime property to have a private wedding. It’s huge white sand beach, beautiful palapa restaurants and stunning sunsets is the perfect Caribbean Chic location for a destination wedding!

Before the ceremony, Mandy, Cam and I toured the island for photos. Our stops included the colorful fishing boats on the west side of the island, the colorful buildings in centro, the marina where their friend’s fishing boat is and the cliffs of Punta Sur at the south point.

It was an honor to be there to capture Mandy and Cam’s destination wedding on Isla Mujeres! Here are a few highlights from their wedding.

Special recongition goes out to Sabina Tamm of Sundreamers who coordinated the day and was our couple’s officiant. I would also like to recognize the incredible talent of Anne Marie Cote of Make Me Beautiful Bride who did Mandy’s hair and makeup and Vanessa Jaimes  of Diseno Floral who was the artist behind the incredible flowers.

I just returned from a three week trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. San Miguel is nestled in the mountainous central region of Mexico and is part of the “Bajio” region of the state of Guanajuato. This “low” region in reality averages about 7,000 feet, but is so called for being a relatively flat area ringed by mountains. San Miguel is one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations, and receives well over 100,000 tourists per year. It was ranked fourth place in top tourist destinations by the Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.

San Miguel is picture perfect with it’s narrow cobblestone streets and stunning Spanish colonial architecture. Facades of ochre, orange and yellow, are accented with windows and doors framed by handcrafted ironwork and other intricate details. The people of San Miguel are equally as incredible…very friendly and welcoming! With all of these features and romantic old world charm,  no wonder it’s a popular destination for weddings!

During my stay, I had the honor of meeting Alicia Vilar Segura, owner and wedding coordinator for San Miguel Weddings. Alicia and her staff have been coordinating creative weddings in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato for the past ten years. Alicia also introduced me to the cutest couple, Daniela and Juan Pablo, who are getting married this May in San Miguel with their ceremony in the 18th century San Francisco church.

I had the pleasure of photographing Daniela and Juan Pablo’s engagement session while I was there and what fun we had! We  walked throughout centro, winding our way up and down romantic and charming cobblestone streets and stopping at a number of incredible locations including the Parroquia de San Miguel in the Jardin principal, the main square in San Miguel. Daniela and Juan Pablo are so cute together and so in love!!! I hope you enjoy a sample of the images I took during their engagement session.

Not only is Daniela a bride, but she is also a wedding coordinator. Her and her sister Andrea, are the wedding coordinators for Magnolia Boutique Catering & Event Planning, who coordinate weddings and events at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel.

If you are planning your wedding in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, please give me a ring! I would be honored to capture the festivities and incredible moments of your wedding!! susanpacekphotography@comcast.net

I have been in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for the past few weeks studying Spanish. San Miguel is absolutely incredible and I am so excited to return! I will be blogging about this incredible town soon, but first I wanted to share with you some images from my day trip to Dolores Hidalgo which is about an hours drive from San Miguel. Dolores Hidalgo is in the north-central part of the Mexican State of Guanajuato. The city was a small town known simply as Dolores when Father Miguel Hidalgo uttered his famous cry for the independence of Mexico (the Grito de Dolores) there in the early hours of September 16, 1810, in front of his parish church. After Mexico achieved independence, the town was renamed Dolores Hidalgo in his honor. Dolores Hidalgo was also the birth place of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, one of the country’s most beloved signers and songwriters in the ranchera/mariachi style whose songs are considered an integral part of Mexico’s musical heritage.

Today, Dolores Hidalgo is know primarily for it’s hand-made talavera ceramics. If you go, you must visit JMB, a fabulous store in town that sells the famous talavera ceramics.

Here are a few images from my visit. Enjoy!

Erin and Dayton choose to have their ceremony in the Romantic Gardens at the Denver Botanic Gardens. What a magical place the Gardens are! They cover 23 acres of cultivated gardens, romantic pathwaysand water gardens. It’s the perfect setting for a wedding. Typically, our wonderful Colorado weather cooperates, but sometimes it doesn’t. Just as Erin and Dayton’s ceremony was about to begin, the skies opened up and it started raining! Guests scrabbled to raise their umbrellas and stand in the small covering where the string quartet was set up. The rain didn’t last long and the ceremony was able to continue a short time later. Erin was an absolutely beautiful bride and Dayton was so happy to share his life with her. These two incredible couples were…..well…..incredible!!! The celebration continued at the Denver Grand Hyatt in the Capitol Peak Ballroom on the 38th floor in the Pinnacle Club. With it’s floor-to-ceiling windows, the views are spectacular out to our Colorado Rockies and the Denver city skyline. It was a fabulous celebration and I was tickled pink to be their wedding photographer!

Special recognition goes to Megan Petterson who coordinated Erin and Dayton’s wedding at the Grand Hyatt. She was FABULOUS! The reception was perfect and I so enjoyed working with her. Thank you Megan!!
